Welcome to WVSummerFEST.org

April 17, 2007
Dear SF Parents and Students,

I need to inform all of our SF family that I have made the difficult decision to cancel SummerFest for this coming summer. After all of the difficult times of this past school year, I feel a desperate need to just get away this summer to get some rest and recuperate without having the SF classes also going on.

This has not been an easy decision to make. SummerFest has been my summer, and the Engineering Building has been my summertime home for many, many years. However, this year it is important to plan a different summer for just this one summer.

I promise that this does not signal an end to SummerFest; it will be scheduled again for the summer of 2008.

SummerFEST is a five-week academic camp for motivated students with special interests and talents. It is designed for students who will be entering grades 1 through grades 9 as of next fall.

Students can register for one, two, three, four, or five weeks. Students may select one, two, or three classes each day. Students participate in their selected classes each day for one week.

Students are eligible for this summer program if they have been previously been identified as gifted or if they are recommended by their classroom teacher as: 1) having high achievement (SAT9 scores in the 90th percentile); or 2) having high classroom performance (having a B average or its equivalent); or 3) showing special ability in a specific area (please list the area).
